Spring Digital Cleanup: Organizing Your Tech and Online Accounts in Hernando and Citrus Counties

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s the perfect time for a little digital cleanup right here on the Nature Coast. I’ve been helping seniors in Weeki Wachee and Crystal River declutter their phones, computers, and online accounts for years, and it always leaves folks feeling lighter and safer.

Here’s a simple spring-cleaning plan you can actually do, or I can walk through with you in person.

1. Tidy up your passwords

If you’re still using the same password for everything, let’s change that. I’ll show you how to use the free password manager that comes with your phone or computer. One strong password for your email, and everything else gets handled automatically.

2. Organize those tax and medical forms

March is when a lot of you start gathering 1099s, Social Security statements, and doctor-portal logins. I can walk you through the secure websites step-by-step so you don’t have to fight with tiny print or confusing buttons. I’ll even help you set up bookmarks so you can find them next year in ten seconds.

3. Clear out old photos and files

Your phone is probably full of pictures from last year’s family visits. I’ll help you back them up to a safe place (I recommend a simple external drive or cloud option I can explain in plain English) and free up space so your device runs faster.

4. Check your Wi-Fi and smart devices

Winter humidity can do funny things to routers. I’ll make sure your internet is running smoothly and that any cameras or smart plugs are still secure.

5. Update everything

One quick sweep of software updates keeps hackers out and makes your devices feel brand new again.

A spring digital cleanup visit usually takes about an hour and a half. When I leave, your tech feels fresh, organized, and you know exactly how to keep it that way.

If you’re in Hernando or Citrus County and the thought of doing this alone makes your stomach drop, that’s what Nature Coast Tech Help is for. Regular visits start at $99, and I also run the Saturday Neighbor Help program for folks who need a hand but are on a tight budget right now.

Ready to tackle spring cleaning the easy way? Call or text me at (352) 279-4155. I’m local, I’m background-checked, and I promise you’ll feel better when I head out.

Let’s make 2026 the year your tech works for you, not the other way around.

Staying Safe Online This Valentine’s Day: How Seniors in Hernando & Citrus Counties Can Spot Romance and Tech Scams

Valentine’s month always brings a little extra sunshine to the Nature Coast, but it also brings extra phone calls and emails from scammers. I’ve helped dozens of neighbors right here in Hernando County dodge these traps, and I want you to have the same peace of mind.

Romance scams and tech-support scams are two of the biggest ones I see in February. Here’s what to watch for and exactly what to do.

Romance scams – they sound too good to be true (because they are)

Someone you’ve never met starts chatting online or by text, says all the right things, then eventually needs money for a “family emergency” or a plane ticket to come visit. Real people don’t move that fast. If it feels off, it probably is.

Tech-support scams – the “your computer is infected” call

The phone rings and a friendly voice says Microsoft or Apple detected a virus. They want remote access to your computer. Stop. Hang up. Real companies don’t call you out of the blue like that.

Three quick things you can do right now

  • Never give anyone remote access to your computer unless you called them first.
  • Use the “Do Not Disturb” setting on your phone during dinner—scammers love evening hours.
  • If an email looks official but asks for your password or Social Security number, close it and call the real company yourself.

During my in-home visits I walk you through your email, phone, and any suspicious messages you’ve received. I help you delete the junk and set up simple filters so you don’t have to worry.

If you’ve already clicked on something you wish you hadn’t, or you just want a second set of eyes, that’s exactly the kind of thing I help with every week. No shame, no lectures—just calm, patient help.

Call or text me at (352) 279-4155. Mention you read the February blog and I’ll make sure we carve out time for you.

Stay safe, stay connected, and enjoy the rest of this beautiful winter on the Nature Coast.

5 Tech Resolutions for a Confident 2026: Simple Tips for Seniors in Hernando and Citrus Counties

Hey neighbors,

Happy New Year from Weeki Wachee! Every January I get calls from folks in Hernando and Citrus Counties who got a shiny new tablet or phone for Christmas and now feel a little overwhelmed. That’s completely normal—and it’s exactly why I started Nature Coast Tech Help.

Instead of making big, complicated goals this year, let’s keep it simple. Here are five easy tech resolutions that will actually make your life better in 2026. I’ll walk you through each one the same way I do during my in-home visits.

1. Get comfortable with video calls so you never miss a grandkid’s face

Most of the seniors I help in Sugarmill Woods just want to see their family. If you’ve been putting off FaceTime or Zoom, start small. Open the app, ask a family member to send a quick test call, and practice answering. I can set this up for you in about ten minutes—no stress.

2. Update your devices and keep them running smoothly

New software keeps things safe and fast. I’ll show you how to check for updates on your phone, tablet, or computer without any guesswork. One quick visit and you’ll stop seeing those annoying “update later” pop-ups.

3. Learn three red flags that scream “scam”

I’ll walk you through the biggest ones I see around here—fake “grandparent emergencies,” tech-support calls claiming your computer is broken, and emails that look official but aren’t. I’ll give you a simple cheat sheet you can keep by your desk.

4. Organize your photos so you can actually find them

Take a Sunday afternoon and let’s sort last year’s pictures into folders. I bring my own laptop so I can help you do it on your device. You’ll end the visit with a smile and a backup plan that actually works.

5. Set up one easy smart-home gadget

Maybe a video doorbell so you can see who’s at the door, or a simple Wi-Fi extender if your signal drops in the back bedroom. I’ll explain it in plain English and make sure you feel confident using it before I leave.

If any of these sound like a good plan for 2026, you don’t have to do them alone. That’s what I’m here for. A regular in-home visit starts at just $99, and I always make sure you feel good before I head out.

Got a different tech goal for the new year? Give me a call or text at (352) 279-4155. I usually reply within a few hours.

Here’s to a confident, connected 2026 on the Nature Coast!
